Granite Gorge is such a lovely place to visit, and even camp there for a  few days too, there are different walks through the wonderful landscapes, you can even feed the rock wallabies when they come out in the evening.

This museum is great, it gives you heaps of information on the history of cairns, before it was settled by Europeans, when the city began, and the surrounding areas as well.
